Sound Therapy

Sound Therapy is an energy medicine which is used to re-tune our mind, body and spirit. It promotes the free flow of prana or energy to allow our body to "whole" itself. Sound Therapy uses the Chakra system; each of our chakras resonates at its own frequency but the various stresses that we are exposed to in our everyday lives can "de-tune" them - Sound Therapy can be used to return them to their optimum frequency, using techniques called Sympathetic Resonance and Entrainment.

How Does Sound Therapy Work?

Everything in the universe has a fundamental frequency - the frequency at which it most naturally resonates. Our chakras are no exception. The stresses of modern life can cause a shift in the frequency a chakra resonates at, causing it to be "out of tune" or out of balance. Each chakra nourishes a different part of the mind, body and spirit. They pump prana (energy) through the body via special channels called the nadis. A chakra which is out of balance cannot do this as effectively and this can cause problems, which may manifest in the mental, emotional, physical or spiritual body. A chakra which is out of balance can also affect other nearby chakras.

Sound Therapy can retrain the chakras and energy systems using a variety of instruments - the exact instruments used will be depend on your needs and your therapist. Sound Therapy is a safe, relaxing, non-invasive treatment which can have powerful and lasting effects.

About Nicola

Nicola is currently training with the British Academy of Sound Therapy and will qualify as a Sound Therapist in Summer 2008. She is registered with the ICM as a student therapist and is fully insured.

Nicola is a fully qualified teacher with a degree in World Religion and has been teaching meditation to teenagers for around seven years. She has also taught yoga adventure classes to pre-school children.
